Reduta
One of the quarters favored for business and living, because it is in the highest part of Sofia, the air is clean, there is greenery, calm atmosphere and yet it is close to the city center. It is famous for its characteristic small and quiet streets and icely landscaped yards with family houses. Reduta is in the east part of the city. To the south is the Geo Milev Park and Geo Milev residential quarter. To the east is the Slatina housing development. To the north and northeast is the Sofia-Plovdiv railway. To the west is the Sitnyakovo Blvd. that separates the quarter from the city center. Reduta is very attractive for construction entrepreneurs. During the recent years many new housing buildings have been erected here. The building fund is varied with single-family houses and 6-7 storey brick apartment blocks. There are also panel blocks of flats in the northeastern parts of the quarter. With the exception of a part of the single-family houses, the buildings are comparatively new. The panel buildings are still in good state. There are several brick apartment blocks in the quarter built before 1990. Reduta is situated relatively close to the center of Sofia, but most of the streets are very quiet and the air is clean - especially the ones located in the proximity of the Geo Milev Park. One of the most prestigious schools in the capital is situated here - the J. A. McGahan Transport College. Other schools in the district - Comprehensive High School No. 23 at Sitnyakovo Blvd., the PGT at V. Atanassov Str., First Private High School in Mathematics on 15 Kademlia Str. A medical center is located at Tzarichina Str., and a library at V. Atanassov Str. There is a big supermarket at Atanas Uzunov St. and many small shops in the new residential buildings. PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Bus 72 travels the whole quarter. Along Sitniakovo Blvd. are the routes of busses 9, 11, 75, 120, 313, 413 and tram 20, 22; route taxis 2, 12, 20, 48, 15.
